A snowdrop wish list has been compiled to help Kelmarsh Hall diversify its spring display - and members of the public being called on to help. With some varieties of snowdrops becoming increasingly difficult to get hold of, our gardening staff have put together a ‘wish list’ and are urging galanthophiles – enthusiastic collectors of snowdrops – to be on the lookout for some of the rarer varieties from sellers and growers. Visitors to other gardens where snowdrops are on sale may also be able to help.

Examples include Anne of Geierstein (which is rarely available commercially); Denton, a double snowdrop with regular shaped petals (which would be a hit with General Manager Lesley Denton); and Fiona’s Gold, a snowdrop with yellow markings (guaranteed to be lovingly tended by gardener Fiona Alexander).

Visitors can see the Kelmarsh gardens coming to life and enjoy an invigorating stroll with our Spring Walk on Sunday 23rd February.

Keep an eye out for snowdrops and meander through the woodland before stopping off for warming refreshments in the tea room. The gardens will be open from 11am to 3pm and admission is £3 (under fives free). Dogs on leads are welcome.
