Kelmarsh Tea Room

Tea Rooms: 11AM - 5PM

March 20, 2012

Our tea room and gift shop have undergone a refurbishment this spring, offering a greater selection to visitors to Kelmarsh.

Both will open at Easter on Sunday, April 8th when the gardens and hall will also be open to the public.

The new menu – which will use incorporate fruit and vegetables grown on-site in the walled kitchen garden – includes home-made soup, children’s picnic boxes, home-made cakes and the Kelmarsh Afternoon Tea for Tea. There will also be a selection of mouth-watering platters, including hand-carved honey roasted ham and local Brixworth pâté served with salad, coleslaw, fresh bread and apricot and apple chutney.

Head Gardener Esther McMillan said: “We hope that by offering some home-grown dishes, we can really get Kelmarsh into people’s systems! Kelmarsh was once known for its hospitality when guests came to stay, so it’s good to be connecting the kitchen garden to visitors once again.”

The tea room will be serving food during garden opening hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays plus Bank Holidays until September 27th. It is open until 9pm every Thursday for evening suppers which will also coincide with fortnightly Thursday talks held in the hall. On these dates, there will be a specially-themed menu, including a Spanish evening with giant paellas and sangria, an Italian night with anti-pasti and wine and an English evening of Pimms, strawberries and cream. Keep checking our website for more details. To book a table for a Thursday evening supper call the tea room on 01604 686709.

The gift shop has also been re-vamped with items on sale from Seaton Gifts. The selection includes cards, scarves, items for the garden and home, children’s gifts and jewellery.
