Kelmarsh Hall is proud to announce that it has been awarded full Arts Council Museum Accreditation.
The Accreditation Scheme sets nationally agreed standards for UK museums and historic houses. To qualify, museums must meet standards on how they are managed, for the services they offer and on how they care for collections.
Kelmarsh Hall’s application for accreditation has been led by Carla Cooper, Manager for Fundraising and Visitor Services, who said: “This is a really great accolade for Kelmarsh and one which I am very proud we have achieved.”
“We have many people to thank not least Museum Development East Midlands whose funding supported various consultants to work with us in support of our application. I also have to thank Simon Davies, our museum mentor, who has been an invaluable support to me during the process.”
A statement from the Arts Council website notes: “We want all museums to be sustainable, focused and trusted organisations, which offer their visitors a great experience. The Accreditation Scheme sets out nationally-agreed standards, which inspire the confidence of the public and funding and governing bodies. It enables museums to assess their current performance, as well as supporting them to plan and develop their services.”
The Museum Accreditation comes at a perfect time, as in the past month the construction for our ‘Tunnelling through the Past’ project has begun and is due to be completed in July 2017.
